Weekly Shonen Magazine is a magazine that is released once a week by Kodansha publishing. Weekly Shonen Magazine was first published in 1959, and began by trying to appeal to girls between the ages of 13 and 18, with manga known as shojo manga. Its policies, however, are much different than other manga magazines. In Japan, certain nudity is not considered to be immodest. Weekly Shonen Magazine was different than the others because, until recently, it refused to show female nipples. This skewed the demographic more towards older readers, such as high school seniors or college students.
