'''Blankey Jet City''' topped the Japanese punk rock scene in the 90's. Since the band's creation in 1990 by vocalist and guitarist [[Kenichi Asai]], they have released dozens of albums and singles even with each band member working on their own side-project bands. After its formation, the band soon earned itself a major record deal with [[Toshiba EMI]] thanks to a battle-of-the-bands-meets-American-Idol-style television program.
