Yuki Atae (与勇輝) is an internationally known Japanese dollmaker, born September 17, 1937, in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. His dolls are known for their fine detail and the subject matter of his work often (though not always) includes childhood innocence or nostalgic themes.

History

  • 1963 - Graduates from Japan Design School
  • 1977 - Exhibition at Gallery Yaesu
  • 1979 - Exhibition at Saihodo Art Gallery
  • 1981 - Exhibition at Saihodo Art Gallery
  • 1984 - Group exhibition at Matsuya Department Store Gallery, Ginza, Tokyo
  • 1987 - Exhibition at Chihiro Iwasaki Picture Book Museum
  • 1992 - Exhibition at Tokyo Art Club
  • 1993 - Atae Yuki Museum opens
  • 1997 - "The World of Atae Yuki Exhibition", Kobe, Japan
  • 1998 - Atae Yuki dolls are used in the "Poppoya" (Railway Man) film
  • 2000 - First American exhibition at Westwood Gallery
  • 2006 - Exhibition at Baccarat museum, Paris, France
