Overview

Tadanobu Asano was born on November 27, 1973 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. He is of both Japanese and Native American descent. He first began acting as a child in the television show Kinpachi-Sensei, because his father was an agent and familiar with the business. He is married to Chara, a Japanese musician, and they have two children. In addition to acting in both film and television, Asano enjoys drawing, karate, and playing the guitar in his band.

Awards

Since 1997, Asano has won several acting awards. He has received the Best Actor in a Leading Role, from the Takasaki Film Festival three times (1997, 2000, and 2005). He has also won best actor or actor in a leading role award from the Yokohama Film Festival, the Mainichi Film contest, the Venice Film Festival and the 6th Japanese Film Producer Awards. He has also taken home a Supporting Actor award from the Japanese Academy Awards (2004).
