Miyavi is a Japanese rock and Visual Kei solo musician, a member of the band Skin, and the ex-guitarist of the visual kei band Due'le Quartz. He was previously known as Miyabi (elegant), but changed his name on going solo in 2002. In late 2004, he changed it again to MYV, although he is still listed as Miyavi on his official website and in magazines.

Miyavi was born in Nishikujo of a Japanese mother and second generation Zainichi Korean father. He was brought up in Kawanishi.

Miyavi joined Due'le Quartz as guitarist in 1999. Due'le Quartz disbanded in 2002, and he launched a solo career.

After appearing on Japanese TV to promote his debut album, Gagaku, Miyavi soon amassed a large fanbase. In 2004, he was signed to Universal Records Japan. The single Rock no Gyakushuu -Super Star no Jouken marked his major debut. His first major album, miyavizm, was released in June 2005.

Miyavi also starred as himself in the 2004 film Oresama, and is regularly featured in JRock Magazines. He has also modeled for various brands such as the clothing line Fotus.

In 2006, Miyavi joined the JRock super group Skin. He made his US live debut in Las Vegas in 2007.
