Fuji Rock is a Japanese music festival held each year at the scenic Naeba ski resort in Japan. The Fuji Rock festival is three days long and is usually held on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The lineup, put together by Japanese promoters Smash, changes each year, but always features a large number of Japanese bands and foreign bands (the biggest Fuji Rock headlining bands are often foreign) of various genres - from rock to dance to urban. More than just a music fest, Fuji Rock has become a big camping and environmentally friendly partying event for the 100,000+ people who attend each year.

Fuji Rock Festival History

The first Fuji Rock festival was held in 1997 at the Tenjinyama Ski Resort near Mt Fuji. The location turned out to be a problem so the festival was moved to Tokyo for it's second year in 1998. Finally, in 1999, Fuji Rock found it's real home in Naeba and the festival has been held there each year since.
