History

Freshness Burger opened in 1992 in Shubiya, Tokyo, by its founder Mikio Kurihara.

By 1998, the company was renamed the “Freshness Burger Corporation” (later changing its name to “Freshness, Inc.), as its popularity grew and it continued to spread its stores across Japan and outside of Japan, with new stores opening up in Korea.

Restaurant Information

Unlike many of the fast food restaurants in the west, Freshness Burger tries to create delicate balance between restaurant setting and fast food speed. They consider themselves a “high end” fast food place, with several places to eat and a management that encourages using the stores as places to relax with friends.

Every item on the Freshness Burger menu is created on site – nothing is frozen. This includes the buns, which are baked on location. The French fries are cut on location as well (which causes them to be slightly chunkier than the average fast food potato slice).

Serving both organic tea and organic coffee, Freshness Burger tries to serve better quality fast food, though all of their items suffer from the same high fat and carbohydrate content of most fast food burger places.
