Japanese R&B/hip hop group EXILE was formed in 1999 by member HIRO. The group's focus is not only on their vocals but also on their dancing. Their ability to captivate their audiences as they performed helped the group to rise in popularity. After just a few years, member SASA decided to retire from the group to pursue a career in composition. ATSUSHI won the role as his replacement through audition, and SHUN joined the group after winning a local television contest. Today the group is actively recording and performing. In 2006, the group teamed up with legendary jrock band GLAY for the song SCREAM. Despite success, 2006 also saw SHUN's departure from the group. Another round of auditions produced members AKIRA and TAKAHIRO.
