Colour by Numbers History

Colour by Numbers opened in Daikanyama in the summer of 2005, exactly one year after Loveless opened in Aoyama. The shop immediately became a landmark in Daikanyama because of the mass of constantly changing digital clocks on the back wall - visible even to people walking by on the street. Like Loveless, Colour by Numbers carried high end Japanese and import fashion brands including Mastermind Japan, United Bamboo, Imitation of Christ, Barking Irons, Whipping Floyd, Foundation Addict, and Education From Young Machines.

Clothing and accessories stocked ranged from shoes and accessories to t-shirts and jeans, all the way up to more high end suit jackets - all with an eye on hip modern design, often created by young up-and-coming Japanese fashion designers. Many people found that Colour by Numbers had a better selection of women's clothing than Loveless in Aoyama. At the time of its opening, the head buyer and creative director of Colour by Numbers was Yuichi Yoshii. In the summer of 2008, Sanyo Shokai announced that the Colour by Numbers name would be retired and the shop would re-open as Loveless Daikanyama.
