History

This hall was another hall built for the 1964 Olympic Games. It was created for the weight lifting competition. After the event, the hall was and is most commonly used for live concerts, especially classical music. In 2005 it was found that the ceiling had too much asbestos and could cause health issues. The entire building was remodeled in 2005 and opened again in 2006, under its new name. They also replaced the revolving stage, which had been breaking down before the renovation.

Facility

The original Shibuya Public Hall was able to fit approximately 2,318 people, with 1352 on the Mezzanine level and 966 on the 2nd floor. Once it got remodeled that number dropped slightly to 2084, with 1255 on the Mezzanine level and 849 on the second floor. The acoustics of CC Lemon were improved after the remodel. The public hall is most often used for classical music, though it has been home to a variety of other musical venues. It is also most often used for seated music. Rarely is it turned into a dance floor.
